MOPS Tea and Testimony

Every year a great group of mom's gets together at the Methodist Church in Fremont for a spring tea.  I have enjoyed getting to design some of the flowers for their event.  This year their theme had a gardeny feel. Each table featured a different tea cup or small vintage pitcher that looked like it was left in the garden and found full of flowers and garden creatures like butterflies, lady bugs, and frogs.

Tami and Jesse's May Wedding

Tami and Jesse were married on a pretty May afternoon. Perfect for Tami's vision of bright, happy, springtime colors and lots of sparkle.

Tami's bouquet was made of stephanotis, 'Furore" gerberas, "Margarita" gerberas, magenta roses, and orange milva roses.  The handle was wrapped with a rhinestone band and a collar of rhinestone drops framed the bouquet.

Tami requested simple understated bouquets for the bridesmaids, a beautiful choice with the vibrant colored dresses.

Jesse's boutonniere was wrapped with just a touch of sparkle to match the handle on Tami's bouquet.

The ceremony took place at the Arlington Community Church.  We lined the pews with cones filled with pink wax flower, seeded eucalyptus, and gerberas.

The reception followed the ceremony at the Fremont Golf Club.  This was Tami's toss bouquet.  The tables featured pink and orange table runners and napkins with clusters of gerbera daisies in crystal filled vases.

It was an honor to design Tami and Jesse's wedding flowers. I had so much fun with this color scheme. Thanks to Meri Valentin for the gorgeous pics.

Preparing for Colleen and Tanner's Wedding in KC

The week before Colleen and Tanner's Kansas City wedding was a flurry of excitement and preparation.  Here are a few of the photos of our week.

Cooler full of gorgeous purple blooms

My best helpers are my mom and my baby grandson.  He loved to sniff the lily blooms.

The bride's bouquet in progress

Boxes are prepared for transporting and presenting bouquets.  The bride wrote personalized notes to include in her mom and new mom-in-law's boxes

Sixteen low centerpieces will be given as gifts to family and friends after the evening is over.  The vases were engraved with the couples monogram and wedding date

I can't wait to post the pictures of the big day.

Hello Dolly Musical Flowers

Hello Dolly was a wonderful success!  I am always amazed at the fabulous talent at FHS.  I had so much fun designing cast gifts for the actors, musicians, and crew.  Here are a few of the arrangements.

Chi Omega Owl

Recently I was asked if Avant Garden Floral would like to make a donation to Chi Omega Sorority for the Eleusinia silent auction event. My daughter is a recent pledge at UNL and so I was very excited to be asked to help support their scolarship program.  Since the Chi Omega's symbol is the owl, I couldn't resist making a flower owl for the event.

DIY Ideas... That you don't have to do yourself

There are so many great DIY decorations that look spectacular, make a colorful impact, and are easy on the budget.  But these fun ideas all take time and resources and sometimes with all of the other wedding planning, there just isn't  time to create these spectacular looks.  Avant Garden Floral would love to help.  We enjoy creating everything from favors to decorations, which allows you to have the DIY look, without having to spend every evening on the living room floor with a glue stick and a pile of paper.

Strings of hearts or butterflies made of newspaper, old book pages, or even hymnal pages drape beautifully over tables or look great hung from ceilings or windows.  These can be painted different colors or made from just about any material in tons of shapes.

We love these colorful tissue paper and tulle puff flowers.  These are so versatile, they can be pinned on curtains to make a colorful backdrop for cake tables or picture spots, hung from the ceiling, used to dress up your reception tables, or just tucked here and there for color.

Banners and signs make areas of your venue stand out.  Perfect for the guest book table, cake table, or picture spot.

Centerpieces can be created using lots of wonderful paper and inexpensive vases.  Here's one we spotted in Lincoln at a University event made by a group of very talented sorority ladies.  Can't wait to make one of my own.

The ideas are endless, give us a call we would love to discuss any project from favors to decor.

If Your Favorite Color is Sparkly - Crystal Bouquets and Accessories

I always thought it would be wonderful to get married on one of those days when you wake up and all of the trees are covered in glittery ice.  The sun plays off of the snow and makes the surroundings beautiful and almost magical.  For the same reason I love crystals and rhinestones for weddings.  The extra sparkle makes everything look gorgeous and makes the event sparkly and lively.

Our newest jewelry bouquet is made of all kinds of blingy jewels and includes 10  pieces of vintage rhinestone jewelry.  It has a slight cascade and is all hand-wired which makes it very delicate and light as a feather.

This bouquet is a perfect keepsake bouquet just as it is, but if you would like to add the romantic scent and feel of fresh flowers, stephanotis with rhinestone centers could be added for your wedding day.  Spectacular!

Crystal wedding trees can be rented from Avant Garden Floral to continue the sparkle look at your ceremony and receptionThese come in two different sizes and make a dramatic statement at any venue.

We have lots of other sparkly ideas, too.

Feathers and Flowers

There is nothing that adds dramatic movement and structure to a wedding bouquet or arrangement.  Feathers can be subtle and barely there or over-the-top.  The look is up to you.

A subtle use of feathers add lightness to this arrangement made for a luncheon for Omaha Performing Arts.

Ostrich feather make a dramatic centerpiece.

Feathers are a great way to add black to a bouquet.

Pheasant feathers are the perfect fall accent.
